Energy Audit – Reduce Energy Consumption FAQs

What is an Energy Auditor/Building Analyst?

Energy auditors, also known as building analysts, know how a house works as a system and why some homes fail.  They understand how to use the latest building science technology to help resolve heating, cooling and air leakage problems in residential and commercial buildings. By using a “whole house,” performance-based approach, the energy auditor/building analyst addresses a comprehensive range of interrelated building issues and provides recommendations for making the home safer, more comfortable, durable and energy efficient.

Why do an energy audit?

A staggering 21 percent of all of the energy used in the United States is used by residential consumers. With more than 40 percent of that energy used for heating and cooling and heating water, approximately 20 percent for lighting and approximately 15 percent for appliances, significant energy savings can be achieved by monitoring these uses in our homes. An energy survey/audit is the first step to determine usage and opportunities for energy savings.
